Welcome to Narangba Nursery

We are a startup nursery with a focus on delivering great customer service, and a huge variety of plants at the most competitive prices. We are situated on 5 acres of beautiful native forest at Narangba (within a 40 minute drive North of Brisbane), providing us with a bountiful supply of natural greenhouses so it makes perfect sense! :)...and we plan to utilise all of it! The end goal will be that we will be a one stop shop for all produce; pick your own organic veggies, pick up rare and unusual plants for any landscaping project big or small, and even buy a few interesting farm animals/birds

I have a background in environmental science and am using that knowledge, combined with my own personal experience to implement sustainable practices in all that we do, with the aim of creating abundant biodiverse ecosystems throughout the Greater Brisbane Area. I’m also aiming to help people to grow their own food, and in doing so, hopefully preserving the amazing diversity of heirloom produce available, kept alive by people preserving seed in their local gardens throughout the decades. To achieve this goal, I’m stocking very affordable rare heirloom veggie seedlings for people to kickstart their gardens and to have unique produce that simply can’t be found at grocery stores.

The main focus is on productive natives, to attract and bring back habitat for endangered wildlife (birds, frogs etc). I’m utilising a permaculture/balanced ecosystem setup which enables me to use no pesticides!... and to show people how beautiful a native landscape can be! (you can see for yourself at our property) … although I also have a big range of other quality plants as well!

In line with providing people, not just with produce, but with the ability to grow your own produce, and in line with our focus of selling rare natives, a large portion of our nursery is going to be focused on edible native ‘Bush Tucker’ plants, shrubs and trees. I’m always on the hunt for rare and unusual bush tucker plants. This is a potential green industry that is sadly very unrecognized and underutilized. We have the ability to grow plants, native to; and accustomed to our environment; plants that often provide a unique taste, and higher nutritional value than traditional European fare that most are used to. There is something also inherently special about being able to pick wild native fruit from your own backyard, that most people would never have seen (or would never even be stocked) in the shops. This is a large passion of mine due to what it accomplishes. An environmentally friendly, water-wise alternative to traditional farming.

I operate a completely organic nursery, using no pesticides at all. I have a working permaculture setup that encourages a balance of beneficial insects & microorganisms which work towards producing healthy and hardy plants. The results are amazing and you can see for yourself! As an example; bees are in rapid decline, and this is something we should all be concerned about, and is something in which I’m aiming to do my bit to help.

Our eventual goal is to also produce pick your own fresh organic heirloom & native produce. You won’t find these fruits or veggies in your supermarket! Save the seeds and grow your own! Completely GMO free! Come and visit our gorgeous native forest and see what landscaping is possible in your own backyard!
